2009 was a great year for The Derek Trucks Band. They released the album Already Free, recorded in Derek’s home studio, and played some smoking shows. In April I saw them play at The Park West in Chicago and it inspired me to start this blog.
In 2010 the band is taking a hiatus from touring to focus on other projects. Hopefully the newly announced Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeski Band goes on tour with George Porter on bass, Jeff Sipe on drums, Jon Cleary on piano and Branford Marsalis on sax. And also Jimmy Vaughan sitting in on a few dates so they can record a live rendition of the Steve Ray Vaughan record Texas Flood. Derek, if you want anymore ideas feel free to send me a note.
The show available for download here was broadcast June 1st 2009 on BBC Radio 2′s The Paul Jones Show. It’s not the complete show from Shepherd’s Bush and it includes some interview questions from Paul Jones. That’s not John Paul Jones, the recorder player on “Stairway to Heaven”.
