What’s the best All Star Jam that you have seen?
An All Star Jam is a musical phenomenon that is only common to Bluegrass Music. Typically a headlining set at a Bluegrass Festival where all the players are All Stars and they came together to Jam on a few tunes. Sometimes they are billed as “The House Band” or “Thunder Jam”.
Due to the ephemeral nature of the band the musical output is always magical. Wish I could have been at this one. Too bad I don’t have any Bluegrass Festivals on the schedule this summer.
This right here is a serious coming together of many of the 2nd Gen. Bluegrass Heavyweights. They bring the Thunder!
A little behind the scenes insight into the immediate future of the site. There is going to be a blogging collaboration to celebrate the worlds greatest music festival in the lead up to Summer Solstice. It will be on the same level as the epic rock and roll collaboration of Widespread Panic and Dirty Dozen Brass Band for Halloween 1998.
Will have a few more Tim O’Brien shows to do before that though.
While you grabbing the show enjoy the fine Bluegrass Murder Ballad “Hey Joe” written by Jimi Hendrix that streaming on my Tumblr page.
