Los Lobos shows at the Filmore in December are an annual tradition. The shows at the Fillmore are usually pretty special, and the ones from 1998 don’t disappoint. The band released a great CD Live at Filmore which won album of the year from me in 2005. The live DVD from that Los Lobos show is also essential. Too bad they didn’t come out with a t-shirt for Live at the Filmore, I love that flying taco design!

When you download this one, be sure to check out “Kiko and the Lavender Moon”. The album of the same name has always been a favorite, and I didn’t see the band play this song live until recently.
A horn section from the opening band comes out to play with Los Lobos at the end of the second set. They go in to the James Brown tune “Gonna Have a Funky Good Time”, which I like quiet a bit. I might have post some Maceo and JB’s around here soon.

Excellent, thanks so much. We went out to San Diego a couple of years back and caught them at the House of Blues. They played the Kiko album all the way thru and recorded it. As I understand it’s still in Mammoth Records hands, let’s hope they see light to release it someday.
Nice Dude. I remember when they did that a few years ago and wanted to make it out there. Kiko is such a good album and a cool idea to do it the whole way through. The audience recording of some of those shows do circulate. Would be nice to get a quality recording of it. Viva Los Lobos…
Can not believe 12 years already since I went to The Fillmore and enjoy such a great concert with my fiancee. Kiko and The Lavender Moon also Mas y Mas one of my favorites.
