Hot Rize, the hottest Bluegrass group in the ’80′s, is recorded here in a Reunion tour after their breakup around 1990. Pictured here with the late great Charles Sawtelle playing his 1930′s Sunburst Martin D-18 guitar. This guitar looks a lot like mine, too bad I can’t get it to sound like he can.
I picked this show from a number of Hot Rize recordings because the sound quality is up there and they play two huge sets. Including two appearances from their Honky Tonk alter ego Red Knuckles. The crowd genuinly appreciates the band, calling them out for a second encore.
Hot Rize failed to play the tune “Nellie Kane” so I put it on my other blog for streaming.
Also came across Red Knuckles doing the Jimmy Rodgers tune “In The Jailhouse Now” on that show so you can stream it too.
