Elton John – Fleet Center – Boston, MA – 10.12.1999

by Luke Harris on January 30, 2010

This post is a belated birthday present for a very generous internet buddy of mine, Steffan Antonas.   He was at this one and when he mentioned that it was a 3 hour solo show I recalled that I had it somewhere in the archive.   Took me a while to track it down thought.

You should follow Steffan on twitter at @SteffanAntonas, because he is a smart dude.   And his blog is insightful too.   If you are wondering why people follow you on twitter and then un-follow you the next day, check his post here.

If there is a concert that you are looking for, let me know and I will see if I can find it.

In parts of the show this audience recording pretty rough.   But it gets better one you get into it.   Sir Elton plays an emotional tribute to John Lennon, “Empty Garden”, and goes into a rollicking 12 minute version of “Take Me To The Pilot”.   Which I posted over here so you can sample this recording.

Luke -

This is one of the best, most creative, unexpected birthday presents I’ve ever received from anyone. I’m downloading the concert as I’m typing this. My wife and I are thrilled. This was the first concert she and I went to together – one of our first big dates over 10 years ago in college.

A sincere and heartfelt thank you from both of us here in San Diego. This means a lot to us.

No worries, Steffan. The sound quality is a bit dodgy but I hope you enjoy it.
